SITE

Dorset artists were offered the opportunity to develop exhibitions
or installations within Sherborne House and grounds during Dorset
Art Weeks. A large part of an action or object's meaning is derived
from its context. All galleries become meaningful because of this
relationship yet it is people that establish the meaning. Meaning
has then to be communicated and often this relies on us being
prepared to listen or look. For me, the best art asks us to experience
the world differently, to question the context and therefore the
meaning. Sherborne House, a heritage building, is hosting the
launch of Dorset Art Weeks, presenting an exhibition of contemporary
Dorset artists and being honoured with the inclusion of Sir Anthony
Caro's work. Sherborne House evidently has a vital role, it has
meaning and is valued.
An OPEN HOUSE exhibition curated by Peter Dickinson.
