St Ives Artists - Past and Present

St Ives has been synonymous with contemporary art for over 100 years. The arrival of Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth and Naum Gabo in 1939 brought a renewed impetus to the art colony attracting many other important modernist artists to St Ives.
Although the 1940s to mid 1960s is viewed by many as the 'golden age' in St Ives, artists have continued to be drawn to Cornwall where to this day there is still a thriving art scene. This exhibition, developed in association with the Belgrave Gallery, presents a selection of works by the more significant names amongst the St Ives Moderns, as well as works by some of the most interesting contemporary artists currently based in the St Ives area.
