EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS SHA is an artist led organisation responsible for curating the visual arts programme at Sherborne House in Dorset. Its aims are to present exhibitions and projects that reflect current visual art practice, encourage dialogue and develop opportunities for the creation of new work. Although currently unable to present an arts programme at Sherborne House, SHA will continue to promote contemporary visual art in the region. SHERBORNE HOUSE ARTSSHA is now working in partnership with other visual arts organisations on various projects. These include: The b-side multimedia arts festival b-side is a biennial multimedia site specific arts festival, animating public spaces in Weymouth & Portland. This year’s even runs from Sept 17th to 26th 2010 and presents an ambitious, experimental, site-responsive and often quirky programme of artists commissions in sound, installation, visual art and live art in unusual locations across Weymouth & Portland, Dorset UK. Exploratory Laboratory Is a 30 month visual art and earth science project focusing on the Jurassic Coast. It will investigate geological processes and the methods and technology that scientists are employing to record and measure the changing coast and how artists are using it to look creatively at the environment. The exhibition at Bridport Arts Centre will run from 18 September to 23 October with an artists’ symposium on 11 and 12 October and associated workshops, talks and demonstrations dates and times to be confirmed. The Project is being developed by Big Picture and is funded by ACE, Jurassic Coast Arts Programme, West Dorset District Council, Dorset County Council and Fine Foundation. Big Picture is a collaboration between seven visual arts organisations in rural Dorset - Artsreach, Bridport Arts Centre, Dorset Visual Arts, PVA MediaLab, Sherborne House Arts, Oliver Holt Gallery at Sherborne School and Walford Mill Crafts - working with Dorset County Council, Dorset Design and Heritage Forum and the Jurassic Coast Arts programme. Our aim is to deliver high quality visual arts in Dorset and to build new audiences for the visual arts through working together.
