Future Palette Gallery

Future Palette
21 October - 19 November 2006

The last exhibition of the Colour + Chemistry series showcasing the work created by the three Colour + Chemistry bursary winners who have been working with scientist-mentors from universities and industry. Balint Bolygo has been working with 'smart' wire Nitinol to create a kinetic sculpture, Stig Evans has been using a spectrophotometer, which registers and collects data about colour values not visible to the human eye, to create 'hidden' portraits and Daro Montag will be setting up a 'soil work' laboratory where a number of methods will be applied to generate images that visually represent the various properties of different soils.

Face to Face Gallery

Face to Face
Portraits from Joshua Reynolds to Julian Opie
16 September - 15 October 2006

At its simplest, a portrait is a representation of a person. Traditionally we think of this as a drawing or a painting but, of course, a portrait can take many other forms encompassing differing materials, techniques and styles.

SCA - Senses Gallery

SCA - Senses
26 August - 10 September 2006

Members of SCA and invited artists explore the impact of loss of sight. How can an artist's practice change to accommodate such a circumstance? And can those artists with full vision produce work which is accessible to the visually impaired? Working both independently and collaboratively, John Bartholomew, Kirsten Cooke, Paul Constant, Shirley Cousins, Virginia Day, Anne Hitchcock, Jeremy Marshall, Christine Miller, Elaine Mills, Victoria Petterson-Turner, Jo Saurin launch the 'Senses' project with this thought-provoking exhibition.

Full Spectrum Open Exhibition

Full Spectrum - Open Exhibition
22 July - 20 August 2006

Full Spectrum is the third exhibition developed for the Colour and Chemistry project at Sherborne House. Whilst the other shows were curated this one was selected from open submission, offering an opportunity for all artists in the region to respond to the 'Colour and Chemistry' programme. Artists were given a fairly open brief - the work could be in any media or style and was open to any interpretation of the colour and chemistry theme.

Artists from across the region at all stages of their career, from recent graduates through to the very well established submitted work. The final selection was made by Clare Cooper, Director of Art First, London, Bronwen Gwillim, Arts Consultant and artist, and 'Colour and Chemistry' curator Bryony Bond. Their choice represents a full spectrum of work demonstrating the range of current practice in the South West.
