Michael Newton My paintings explore aspects of melancholia using traditional methods of oil paint on canvas or on wooden panels. In this work I have drawn inspiration from Baudelaire and set 'sick flowers' in ambiguous landscapes. Three primary colours, derived from toxic metals, are used individually for the flowers and mixed for the grey of the landscape.
